Travel Spectacular, Canadian Rockies Edition

We recently visited family in Alberta (eh) and took the opportunity to venture out for a few days on our own to Banff National Park. Lake Louise was our primary destination but we saw plenty of other (amazing! spectacular!) stuff along the way. If you've visited the photoblog lately you are already familiar with the (crazybeautiful!) scenery.

We stayed at an adorable little lodge called the Paradise Lodge & Bungalows. They were fan-freaking-tastic and the location was ideal. It is only one kilometer from this:

And not nearly as expensive as this, which is located right at the lake:

[The chateau is gorgeous, don't get me wrong, but the Paradise Lodge is more my style and is more bang-for-your-buck. I did spend some time on a rainy, chilly morning walking through the chateau as if I were a paying guest, though. Methinks this is a time-honored tradition at Lake Louise.]

Our accommodations in Paradise looked like this:

Yeah, it was kind of fabulous. Fireplace and everything!! Which we used every night, since late June in Canada is FREAKINGWINTERPEOPLE. I wore long underwear and layers upon layers of fleecy items. I rest my case.

We made the special trip out to Lake Louise for our fifth wedding anniversary, and as such, we did cheesy, lovey-dovey things like take pictures of ourselves by holding the camera out in front of us (instead of asking German tourists to take our picture constantly).

We had a grand old time. More trip recap to come.

Ahhh I love that cabin. As in, I could live in it. Forever. (If I lived in the wilderness of Canada, that is). Too cute!

WHAT?? No Japanese tourists to take your photos??? When Chris was 9 mos old and we went to Calgary for my niece's birth (Hey Roz!), we went to Lake Louise and Banff and Chris was almost kidnapped by Japanese tourists. Somewhere in the world there are hundreds of photos of Chris and total strangers (to us) - too bad WE didn't get any of the photos. :)

Glad you had such a picturesque locale for your 5th anniversary. Mike and I headed to Germany from Norway for our Big 0-5. We're headed somewhere else for our upcoming Big 33 but can't share as it's a surprise (like he's gonna be reading blogs in my reader but hey, ya never know!) Hope we can do some cheesy, lovey-dovey things too! :)
